The question of whether Jesus is God is a fundamental topic in Christian theology. Many people wonder if the Bible explicitly states that Jesus is God. The answer lies in several passages of the New Testament, where Jesus is referred to as divine.
For example, John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” In this context, "the Word" is identified as Jesus in John 1:14: “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.” This affirms that Jesus is divine and came into the world in human form.

Why Is Jesus Considered God?
Jesus is considered God because of several key factors:1. His divine nature: Jesus is described as being with God from the beginning (John 1:1), showing that His existence did not begin at His earthly birth.
2. His role in creation: The Bible teaches that Jesus was involved in the creation of the world. Colossians 1:16 says, “For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible... all things have been created through Him and for Him.”
3. His authority over sin and death: Only God has the power to forgive sins, and Jesus repeatedly forgave people’s sins during His ministry (Luke 5:20). Additionally, His resurrection from the dead proves His power over death, a feat only God can accomplish.
How Could Jesus Die If He Is God?
The mystery of Jesus’ death centers around His dual nature: He is fully God and fully human. While His divine nature is eternal and cannot die, His human body was capable of experiencing physical death. Philippians 2:6-8 explains this concept: “Though He was in the form of God, He did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a servant... and being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.”This means that Jesus’ human nature allowed Him to experience death, but His divine nature remained unchanged. His death was the necessary sacrifice to atone for the sins of humanity (Romans 5:8).
How Could Jesus Be Tempted If He Is God?
While it may seem paradoxical for God to be tempted, it is important to understand that Jesus, in His humanity, experienced temptation. Hebrews 4:15 states, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet He did not sin.”Jesus' temptation was part of His human experience, allowing Him to fully identify with our struggles. Though He was tempted, He never sinned because of His divine nature. This makes Jesus the perfect mediator between God and man, as He understands human weakness but remains holy and blameless (1 Timothy 2:5).
Why Did Jesus Say Only God Is Good?
In Mark 10:18, Jesus said, “Why do you call me good?
